Single Mom Foundation
The Single Mom Foundation (SMF) is committed to improving the lives
of single moms and their families by helping them develop long-term self-reliance
through education. If you are a single mom, or know a single mom who is interested
in going to school, the SMF is the place to begin. Following a year spent researching
critical issues impacting single moms, SMF created an innovative website with free
tools and education resources to assist single moms plan for their education and future.

A unique option for single mothers, Western Governors University (WGU) is a well accredited,
online, nonprofit, flexible university setup by former Utah govenor Levitt and based out of Salt
Lake City. WGU offers competency-based degrees at a flat rate of tuition.

The Utah Higher Education Assistance Authority (UHEAA), a subsidiary of
the State Board of Regents, is an agency of the State of Utah which administers Utah's
student financial aid programs, including the student loan guarantee program and
secondary market, state need-based financial aid, the Utah Educational Savings Plan
Trust, and the Utah Engineering and Computer Sciences Loan Forgiveness Program.
UHEAA's mission includes comprehensive outreach and information to assist citizens
in planning for and financing postsecondary education, and special programs to keep
student loans affordable and help borrowers avoid delinquencies and defaults.

English communication through life-skill curricula for speaking, reading, writing and listening.

Head Start
Head Start offers a sense of belonging, other support services, and a chance to
be involved in activities to help the whole family. Parents can take part in training
classes on many subjects, such as child rearing, learning about health and nutrition
and accessing resources in their own community. Head Start also offers referrals for
parents interested in obtaining a high school General Equivalency Diploma (GED)
